OutThere Magizine Feature

Wow... been home now for almost as long as i was away and still trying to settle into the routine of "Normal" life.

The Africa Uncut motorcycle expedition is set to depart from Cape Town on 1 May 2009. This expedition will journey through South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Botswana. Chris Fisher will be completing the entire expedition of more than 14 000km over a period of roughly seven months with several teammates joining him for portions of the trip at various stages.

The purpose of the expedition will be to visit no fewer than ten charity organizations and produce short documentaries for each of the charities that will promote the good work that the charities are doing and highlight the desperate need for increased resources at these aid stations. The expedition will focus mainly on small orphanages that do not gain much exposure and struggle to obtain funding from government, corporate and private donors. The idea is that each of these charities will be able to use their promotional documentary to appeal to current sponsors as well as potential sponsors for funding and supplies and as testament to the good work that is being done. Each orphanage will be given DVD copies of the documentary to send to their sponsors, and Africa Uncut will also upload the videos to the web for increased exposure. Hopefully a documentary series of the entire expedition will be aired on television and this will incorporate all the charity promotional documentaries which will boost exposure tremendously.

The expedition will take the form of an unsupported motorcycle adventure. Chris will carry a digital video camera and laptop on board the motorcycle so that he can shoot, edit and produce each film on location within a few days. The expedition documentary will take the viewer on a journey through Sub-saharan Africa, meeting the people and experiencing African life.
